A public conversation with Brazilian writers and journalists will take place in Kyiv

On October 10, at 6:30 pm, the public discussion "Ukraine and South America: how to talk about common experiences of the past decades" involving Brazilian journalists and writers will take place at the PEN Ukraine Space (Kyiv, 14a Lukyanivska St.)

Speakers:

  • Sylvia Colombo is a journalist specializing in Latin America. She is currently a columnist for "Folha de S.Paulo", as well as a contributor to the ABC newspaper in Spain and The Guardian (UK). She was a correspondent for Folha in London, Buenos Aires, and Bogotá. She holds a degree in History from the University of São Paulo and in Journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. She participated in the Knight-Wallace fellowship at the University of Michigan (USA) and is the author of the book "O Ano da Cólera" (published by Rocco), about the protests in Latin America in 2019.
  • Journalist and writer Lucas Figueiredo was born in Brazil in 1968. He is the author of seven investigative books on corruption, money laundering, organized crime, secret services, and crimes committed during Brazil's civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985). He has worked for various newspapers and magazines in Brazil and has contributed to BBC Brazil (London), The Intercept (NY), Der Tagesspiegel (Berlin), and Defue Sud (Brussels). He has received ten of Brazil's most prestigious journalism, human rights, and literature awards. He currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal.
