Sasha Dovzhyk
Sasha Dovzhyk was born in Zaporizhzhia on March 11, 1988. She has MA degrees in Cultural Studies (National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy", 2011) and Victorian Studies (Birkbeck, University of London, 2013). In 2019, she was awarded PhD in English and Comparative Literature (Birkbeck), which led to the book Decadent Writings of Aubrey Beardsley (2022).
She taught English Literature at Birkbeck (2016–20) and Ukrainian Literature at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL (2022–23). From 2021 to 2023, she was Special Projects Curator at the Ukrainian Institute in London. In 2022, she curated the writers’ residency Ukrainian Lab. She is the editor-in-chief of the London Ukrainian Review.
Since the beginning of 2022, she has divided her time between Ukraine and the UK, engaging in advocacy and writing about Ukrainian resistance for The New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, Guardian, CNN, New Lines and other publications (supported by the Documenting Ukraine and Ukraine in European Dialogue programmes, IWM). At the end of 2023, she moved to Ukraine.
