Tytarenko Mariia
Mariia Tytarenko is a poet, essayist, journalist, media researcher, lecturer, and founder of the MA program in media communications at the Ukrainian Catholic University (2012). Mariia is a PhD in social communications, fellow of the Fulbright Program (2008-2009), and an associate professor at the School of Journalism and Communications of the UCU. She teaches theory of communications, creative writing, storytelling, dramaturgy of science, essay and literary report writing, public speaking etc.
Mariia Tytarenko was born on the Kuril island of Iturup. She graduated from Lviv Ivan Franko National University (the Faculty of Journalism), then worked as a journalist at Dzyga Art Center, columnist at the Postup newspaper, and freelance reporter at ONE CNEWA magazine in New York. She was the founder of the literary report laboratory at LitAccent and a jury member of Samovydets literary report competition (2016-2021). Mariia Tytarenko is an author of the essays workshop at Osvitoria.
Her book Communications from Beginner Level: Essays for Manya (2019) was listed among the best books of the year according to PEN Ukraine. It was nominated for Yurii Sheveliov Prize 2019, Lviv the UNESCO City of Literature Prize 2019, and BBC Book of the Year 2019 in the category of Essays.
