The online residency for German translators of Ukrainian literature seeks to establish ties between Ukrainian authors and foreign translators, as well as promote Ukrainian essayism abroad. Translators selected based on the results of a competition took part in the residency. They translated words of ten well-known Ukrainian essayists written within the framework of this project, namely of Kateryna Botanova, Volodymyr Yermolenko, Serhiy Zhadan, Vakhtang Kebuladze, Andriy Kurkov, Taras Lyuty, Tanja Maljartschuk, Taras Prokhasko, Yurii Prokhasko, Natalka Sniadanko. The outcome of the project is a collection of essays "The Future We Want" in Ukrainian and German languages.
In the Ukrainian language the book was published by Tempora. E-book is available here free of charge.
The German-Ukrainian project took place with support of the partner program Culture for Changes implemented by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and MEET UP! German-Ukrainian Youth Meetings of EVZ Foundation.
