Mamchych Olesya
Co-founder of the alternative school Berkoshko.
She graduated from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University and was a one-year fellow at the Jagiello University (Krakow).
Olesya Mamchych is the author of 5 poetry collections, over 10 children’s books and numerous publications in anthologies and literary magazines in Ukraine and abroad. Her literary debut took place in 1992 with the author’s poetry selection published in the children’s magazine Sonyashnyk.
Her texts have been translated into 14 languages and are studied at the elementary school in accordance with its new program.
Olesya Mamchych is the author of creative writing courses and courses of critical thinking and teaching to reading. For 9 years, she had taught and promoted alternative school education. As a publishing editor, she has prepared over 70 children’s books to being printed out. Many of these have received important professional awards. Since 2022, Mamchych has been working with the editorial team of Polish-Ukrainian online media Posestry. Ukrainian and Polish Literature (a project of Polish Book Institute).
