Hanna Yanovska
Hanna Tryfonova-Yanovska was born on 1980 in Kharkiv. Known as a poet, translator, and artist, has a linguistic education (graduated from Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2002, defended a Candidate thesis in General Linguistics in 2007). Until 2015 she had been taking various translating and writing jobs, then teaching the English language in Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, as well ad translating for "National Geographic Ukrainian Edition" until the journal was closed due to the war. Since 2015 she works as a freelance translator. Hanna has been taking part in literary and art life of Kharkiv and beyond since 2000, she has published three books of poetry, including the one based on her South African experience – Золотий носоріг / The Gold Rhino (2019). Actually, most of Hanna’s poetry is about real of fictional travels.
Hanna is married, has a daughter. Since the full-scale Russian invasion Hanna with her family had to temporarily leave Kharkiv and lived in Lviv and Belgrade.
