In 2006–2007, for a year and a half, Artem was traveling around the North and South America. Based on the experience of this long journey, he wrote a book "The Venture" ("Авантюра"), first published in 2008 (second edition — in 2017).
The following three books, one after another, got to the shortlist of the top five books presented by the BBC Book of the Year Award: "Traveling with Mamayota in Search of Ukraine" ("Подорож із Мамайотою в пошуках України") in 2011, "The Red Zone" ("Червона зона") in 2014, and "There Goes the Neighbourhood" ("Понаїхали") in 2015. The book "Father on Paternal Leave" was proclaimed the "Parents’ Book of the Year 2016".
During the war in Donbas, Artem was working as a reporter. Twice the finalist of the journalistic award "Honor of the Profession". In 2015, Artem together with Kateryna Serhatskova published their collection of journalistic stories from Donbas "The Three-Letter War" ("Війна на три букви").
Chapai's stories and reports are also published in English, Polish, Czech, and Slovenian.
