Scholar, translator, essayist. Writes in Polish and Ukrainian languages.

Professional experience:

Since October 2010 – director of the joint Master’s programs of the NaUKMA and University of Warsaw

2006-2010 – First Advisor, Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, director of the Department of Culture, Education and Science

1997-2006 – Associate Professor, then Professor of the Institute of Slavic Studies, PAS

2004-2006 – director of the PhD Studies, Institute of Slavic Studies, PAS

1985-2005 – University of Warsaw, postgraduate and Associate Professor later on

Since the 2000s, she worked at the Centre for Studies on the Classical Tradition (OBTA UW) as a coordinator in cooperation with Ukrainian partners within the framework of the East-Central European School in the Humanities.

Ola has organized 10 translation seminars and about a dozen of the School’s sessions.

Education:

2004 – doctorate (habilitation), University of Warsaw, monography "Farewell to the Empire: Ukrainian discussions on identity". The book received the Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Award (2003) and the Eastern Review Award (2004). Ukrainian translation was published in 2005.

1992 – PhD in Philology, University of Warsaw

1985 – master’s degree in Ukrainian philology (additional specialty – Russian philology).
