PEN Center Discussions

Years: 2018–

Author of the idea: Tetyana Teren

Coordinator: Oksana Mamchenkova

Project description

This project seeks to promote the development of civil society, shape the culture of respect to the interlocutor and the ability to hear another. The first season of PEN Center Discussions featuring leading writers, journalists and intellectuals took place in Kyiv from the fall of 2018 to the spring of 2019. The second season started in September 2019 with support from Democracy Commission Small Grants Program sponsored by the Embassy of the U.S. in Ukraine. Since then PEN panel discussions are held not just in Kyiv but regional centers across the country. Under the quarantine conditions the project is being implemented online.

PEN Center Discussions includes panel discussions, radio broadcasts, and a project of essays on PEN Ukraine focus themes.
