Levkova Anastasia

Born on the 1st of August, 1986 in Kartsag (Hungary) in the family of military man, Anastasia is a writer, journalist, and cultural manager.

In 2003, she finished Starokostiantyniv gymnasium in Khmelnytskyi region. In 2008, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in ‘Ukrainian language and literature’ at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy and in 2010, she graduated from the university with a Master’s degree in ‘Theory, History of Literature and Comparative Studies’.

From 2007 to 2009, she held the position of an art manager at a newly founded Ye bookstore in Kyiv; 2010 – 2015 at the Lviv Ye bookstore.

During 2010 – 2011, she attended quarterly trainings of cultural management at the Centre of Cultural Management in Lviv.

In November 2013, Anastasia was an intern at the House of World Cultures (La Maison des cultures du monde) in Paris engaged with the Courants du monde programme discovering various aspects of French book industry.

In December 2015, she became the head of the art department in the Ye bookstore network Ye.

In October 2017, she was appointed as a deputy director of the newly founded state institution ‘Ukrainian Book Institute’.

2010 through 2018, she was working as an editor of the Cultural Review department at the Ukrainian Journal (Prague).

Since 2010, Anastasia has been writing articles on book-related and urbanistic topics.

In 2016, she initiated to create a heading of Private Urban Studies in tyzhden.ua media. Since then and until spring 2019, she was an editor of this heading.

In 2018, she was a program director of the Zaporizhya Book Festival.

In 2019, she was a coordinator of PEN Ukraine’s Merezhyvo [Lacework] Project: Literary Readings in Towns of Ukraine.

From September 2016 to April 2017, she was presenting a literary programme on Crimean-Tatar Hayat radio titled ‘Radio Bookstore with Anastasia Levkova’. She elaborated the principles for ‘Crimean Fig’, the contest of writers and translators founded in 2018. Anastasia has been a coordinator and a jury member of ‘Crimean Fig’ since 2018.

Anastasia Levkova was a jury member of the newly founded Lviv UNESCO City of Literature Prize in 2018 and a mentor of the first Reading of the Young City contest for the beginning authors in 2020.

Since 2018, she has been editing books as well as reportages and interviews in The Ukrainians and Reporters. medias. Since 2021, she has been teaching a Linguistic Competence course for journalists in the Ukrainian Catholic University.

Anastasia resides in Lviv.
