Details of the case:
Born on October 25, 1984, Amet Suleymanov is a Crimean Tatar. After graduating from school, he entered the madrasa (Muslim religious lyceum) in Simferopol. His scholastic performance was high4 therefore, he was offered to continue his education in Turkey. Yet he had to refuse this offer due to health reasons. Suleymanov worked as a carpenter. He has a wife and 4 kids. His youngest child was born just three weeks after the search.
Amet has a range of health issues such as arterial insufficiency and mitral regurgitation, but his disability status was withdrawn by the Russian authorities. He felt bad even in the courtroom which means that imprisonment can turn up fatal for him. His health has been deteriorating since the moment of detention.
He is imprisoned under the article 205.5, chapter 2 of the Russian Federation’s Criminal Code ("Providing the activity of an organization recognized as terroristic in the accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation") and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He is held in the Vladimir Central prison №2 in the city of Vladimir, Russian Federation.
