In 2017, his home was severely searched. That became a very traumatizing experience for his children. Timur has been imprisoned under the article 205.5, chapter 2 of the Russian Federation’s Criminal Code ("Providing the activity of an organization recognized as terroristic in the accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation") and sentenced to 17 years in prison. He is held in the penal colony №5 in the village of Klekotki, Ryazan Oblast, Russian Federation.
"In 1944, we had already been proclaimed traitors and deported to Asia in trains. Thanks to Allah, we returned. Today, however, under different pretexts, we are accused of "extremism" and "terrorism." Locals are being intimidated by those "little man." They openly say, "If someone doesn’t like it — get out". This is very reminiscent of 1944, only with a new, contemporary "sauce," Timur Ibragimov, 7 June 2019.
