Project description

A joint information campaign of George Gongadze Prize and Lviv Media Forum NGO seeks to remind the civil society and the Ukrainian media of the values of independent journalism, the value of truth, and of the fact that dissemination of inconvenient information is a dangerous job for the common good.

The campaign began on September 16, 2020 on the day that 20 years ago George Gognadze was abducted and murdered. It comprises a number of events: Price of Word panel discussion within frameworks of BookForum; Commemoration of George Gongadze and all Ukrainian journalists who were murdered during which the Statement of Human Rights and Media Organizations was proclaimed; a series of columns and videos featuring independent journalists and opinion leaders. A significant part of the campaign is the #priceofword flash mob within which media professionals share their stories and views on the importance of true word.
