Sarnatska Alina

Writer, playwright, war veteran, PhD in Social Work

Alina Sarnatska is a writer, playwright, war veteran, a member of PEN Ukraine, and PhD in Social Work whose work explores war, intimacy, and women’s experience, and has been staged in Ukraine, Poland, and Germany. She is also the author of two books. A former social worker and researcher, she served as a combat medic in the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022–2024. She is the founder of Teplonosiї, a volunteer care network supporting wounded veterans since 2022.

She was a 2025 Jean-Jacques Rousseau Fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude, a PEN Ukraine/Norwegian Helsinki Committee fellow, and in 2026, she was selected for the European Resilient Futures Fellowship and became an INDEX resident.

She holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in Social Work, focusing on safety and empowerment for women vulnerable to gender-based violence.
