Nina Kuryata
Kuryata Nina Volodymyrivna was born on February 25, 1978 in the village of Zelenohirske, Lyubashiv district, Odesa region.
She graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Odesa I.I.Mechnikov National University as a specialist in Microbiology and Virology, and from the Mohyla School of Journalism at the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" as a MA Journalism.
Nina worked as a biology teacher at the Richelieu Lyceum in Odesa and as a junior research fellow at the Odesa I.I.Mechnikov National University.
After completing her master's degree in journalism, she worked as an editor in such media as: "Radio Kyiv", "LigaBusinessInform", "Vlast Deneg" and the BBC Ukrainian service. She was also a media trainer and media consultant for Ukrainian and international media NGOs. She is an expert in journalism standards and media self-regulation. She also taught Scientific Journalism and Analytical Journalism at the Mohyla School of Journalism and the School of Journalism of the Ukrainian Catholic University, respectively.
As a publicist, Nina Kuryata wrote opinion columns for leading Ukrainian publications, including Ukrainian Weekly and Hromadske.
Since May 2022, he has been working in the British publication Tortoise media as a Ukraine Editor, covering political and military topics related to Ukraine and the wider region.
She has been writing poetry since childhood, published in the local and regional press and took part in literature societies and competitions.
Since 1999, she has participated in Ukrainian meetings of creative youth and seminars organised by Smoloskyp in Irpin.
In February 2005, she became a laureate of the literary contest "Granoslov", as a result of which the book of poems "Salt and Light" was published later that year.
Former member of the jury of the BBC Book of the Year literary award.
In 2018, the book of poems "I will watch how you write" was published by the Stary Lev Publishing House.
In 2023, "Dzvinka" novel by Nina Kuryata was published by the "Laboratory" publishing house and became a bestseller. The second edition of the book was published in 2024.
