Oleksandr Mymruk was born on 16 March 1989 in the town of Blahovishchenske, Kirovohrad region. He is a Ukrainian writer, journalist and editor, author of the books Tsukrovyk, The River Named Bird, and Oleg Sentsov.

Mymruk graduated from the European University as an economist and Ukrainian State Mykhailo Drahomanov University as a philosopher of culture.

He has been living in Kyiv and working as a journalist and editor for various media since 2013. Mymruk is the author of numerous articles about literature, publishing business, architecture, and culture in general.

Since 2017, he had been editing the book and literary media, Chytomo. In 2019, he became CEO of the Chytomo NGO.

Mymruk is a co-curator and editor of the book project about the history of art and cultural media in Ukraine, Examples XX.

He is a laureate of Smoloskyp literary prize (2016, 2017) and the Prize of the National Writers’ Union of Ukraine for the year’s brightest poetry debut (2018). Mymruk won a range of literary contests including Young Poets’ Republic, Urba-Crossroads, Haivoronnia etc.

His works have been translated into Polish, Hebrew, German, and English languages.
