Komarov Oleksandr
Born in 1987, until 2013, Oleksandr Komarov had worked in different Western corporations’ representative offices in Ukraine.
Since 2013, he has been active in the field of philosophy popularization. He is a founder of educational platforms such as Club of Creative Philosophy and Political Transformations Studio. Within these initiatives, he implemented over 1,000 public events, lectures, discussions, courses involving Ukrainian and foreign public intellectuals during the period from 2013 to 2022 in different cities of Ukraine.
In 2014-2017, he ran the American Common Law Center of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. Komarov was educated in philosophy, law, and military. Before the Russian Ukrainian war, he was the curator of philosophy programs at Lviv Book Forum and Kyiv Book Arsenal.
He is a PhD student at the Department of Philosophy of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (being on academic leave now).
In 2021, he published the book The Way of Development of Ukrainian Identity ("Шлях становлення української ідентичності") in co-authorship with Ukrainian historian Yaroslav Hrytsak.
On 25 February 2022, he voluntarily enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine as an artilleryman. He participated in the defense of Kyiv and was wounded in March 2022. After the rehabilitation, he has participated in defensive battles in the Kharkiv region and Donbas since May 2022. In summer 2023, he finished a 3-month training course at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy and has been working as an officer in mental health care of the personnel in the combat zone.
Since 2022, he has been part of Tabor Production’s creative team as a philosophy and military advisor. Their first film, Militantropos, represented Ukraine at the Cannes Film Festival 2025.
His debut poetry book, The Faults of Perfection ("Вади довершеності"), was published by the Bilka Publishing House in October 2025 and premiered at Lviv Book Forum.
