Kiyanovska Marianna
Born in 1973 in Zhovkva, Lviv region. Writer, interpreter, literature researcher. She graduated from Faculty of Arts at Ivan Franko Lviv National University.
The author of the books of poetry "Reincarnation" (1997), "Wreath of sonnets" (1999), "Creation of Myths" (2000), "Love and War" (with Mariana Savka, 2000), "Book of Adam" (2004), "Common Language" (2005), "Something daily" (2008), "To EP", "373" (both – 2014), "Letters from Lithuania/Letters from Lviv (with Mariana Savka, 2016).
Bibliography
The author of the book of stories "Path along the river" (2008). Her works are translated into English, German, Italian, Swedish, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Polish, Serbian, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Lithuanian, Belarusian, Russian and Hebrew. Translates poetry by Salim Babullaoglu, Julian Tuwim, Ewgeniusz Tkaczyszyn-Dycki, Adam Wiedemann, Gintaras Grajauskas, Shota Iatashvili.
Marianna’s poetry, prose and translations were published in anthologies and magazines "Svitovyd" ("Outlook"), "Suchasnist`" ("Modernity"), "Chetver" ("Thursday"), "Kuryer Kryvbasu" ("The Kryvbas Courier"), "Zolota pektoral" ("Golden Pectoral"), "Potiah 76" ("Train 76"), "Radar", almanacs "Kalmius", "Korolivskyi lis-1" ("King’s forest-1"), "Korolivskyi lis-2" ("King’s forest-2"). Her translations were published in "Literatura na Świecie", "Studium", "Akcent", "Ukrainian Quarterly", "The Wolf", "Knjizevni magazin", "Šiaurės Atėnai","Ulduz", "Новый мир", "Литературная Газета", "Волга", "Forbes-Украина.Woman", etc.
Distinctions
Marianna is a member of Ukrainian Association of Writers, National Union of Ukrainian Writers, PEN Ukraine. She is a founder and manager of the literature award "Big Hedgehog" for the best children book in Ukrainian.
Scholarship-winner of "Gaude Polonia" – the program by the Minister of Culture of Poland (2003, 2009, 2016), CEI Fellowship (Ljubljana, Slovenia, 2007).
She took part in the 2nd and 3rd World Congress of Polish Literature Translators (Krakow, Poland, 2009, 2013), the finalist of Joseph Conrad-Korzeniowski Literary Prize, laureate of the International Festival of Poetry "Kyiv Laurs" (both - 2011).
According to Forbes-Ukraine, Marianna is in the top ten most influential Ukrainian writers (2014), according to the magazine "New Time", she is among hundred most influential Ukrainian cultural figures (2014).
She was awarded Medal for Merit to Polish Culture (Zasłużony dla kultury polskiej, November 2013).
