Kazanzhy Zoya

Ukrainian journalist, writer, blogger, public activist

Born on 30 May 1968 in Lyman Village of Tatarbunarskyi District, Odesa Region, she is a Ukrainian journalist, writer, blogger and public activist.

Zoya completed the Shevchenko National University in Kyiv (Department of Journalism). In 1985–2005, she worked in the media of Odesa and Odesa region. She was the editor-in-chief of the weekly "Slovo," and chaired the Ukrainian Association of Press Publishers. Since 2005, she is a media advisor and media trainer in Ukraine and Central Asia. In 2004–2005, she was engaged in the public service at the Central Election Commission. In 2014–2015, she served as advisor to the Head of the Odesa State Administration.

She was an active contributor to the Odesa Euromaidan. Her texts were one of those Ukraine discovered about the events taking place in Odesa.

In 2016, she took part in Maryana Savka’s project "12 Incredible Women on Values Making a Human" by choosing independence as her value and theme of the public conversation. Her interview has entered the book with the same name which was published in 2017.

In Odesa, together with the like-minded people, she has established the Odesa Ukrainian Club which contributed to the formation of Ukrainian contemporary urban culture; organized discussions and meeting with writers and intellectuals; formed the understanding of Odesa and its urban process among various environments in Ukraine.

Currently, Zoya resides and works in Kyiv, at E’COMM Communication Agency. She is passionate about media, communications and feminism.
