Khersonsky Borys
Born on November 28, 1950 in Chernivtsi in the family of a doctor. Ukrainian poet, publicist, and translator, clinical psychologist and psychiatrist. Most of his works are written in Russian and Ukrainian.
In 1974, Borys graduated from Odessa Medical Institute. For three years, he was working in Ovidiopol district of Odessa region, then — as a psychologist and psychiatrist, as well as a journalist in Odessa. As a young man, Borys participated in the dissident movement. Since 1996, he has been working at the Odessa National University at the Department of General and Social Psychology, and since 1999, he has headed the Department of Clinical Psychology at the same university.
Since 2017 he has held a position of the Rector of the Kyiv institute of Modern Psychology and Psycotherapy (KISPP).
Bibliography
Khersonsky is the author of twenty-two books — poetry, prose, essays.
His poems and essays have been translated into English, German, French, Italian, Dutch and other languages.
Distinctions
Special Yuri Sheveliov Prize for a book An Open Journal (Dukh i Litera, 2015), Voloshyn Kiriyenko Prize "for significant contribution i ndevelopment of the Ukrainian literaature" (2019).
Winner of Joseph Brodsky Prize, of the "Kyivski Lavry" (Kyiv Laurels) poetry festival, of the Austrian Literaris Prize etc.
