Kateryna Botanova (Kyiv/Basel) — cultural critic, journalist, curator, writes mostly on culture as an agent of social transformations, on cultural processed in central and eastern Europe, and on visual art.
She received MA in cultural studies from the National university of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
From 2014 she is co-curating multidisciplinary cultural festival CULTURESCAPES in Switzerland and is an editor of the festival readers.
In 2015-2016 she created and was an editor-in-chief of the cultural section of Ukrainska Pravda online media.
In 2010 she created an online journal on contemporary culture Korydor and was its editor-in-chief till 2015. Korydor was the first Ukrainian media to launch a successful crowdfunding campaign.
In 2009-2015 she was a director of CSM/Foundation Center for Contemporary Art in Kyiv.
Between 2008 and 2017 she was a trainer and a consultant for different programs within EU East-ern Partnership Culture Program dealing with cultural policy analysis, cultural industries, and cul-tural journalism in the region.
In 2014-2016 she participated in Platform for Strategic Initiatives Culture-2025 developing long-term cultural strategy for Ukraine.
She has been published by Ukrainska Pravda, LB.ua, Korydor, Krytyka, Novoje Vremia, Mirror Weekly, as well as OpenDemocracy, Eurozine, Neue Züricher Zeitung, Surprise, Herito and other.
