Bachynskyy Andriy

Автор літератури для підлітків

Ukrainian writer.

He was born on January 19, 1968, in the city of Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty of Lviv Polytechnic University.

As a child, he was fond of designing radio-electronic devices and science fiction and adventure literature, and in the early 2000s, when his children were growing up, he began to write stories for children himself too.

The reason for this was the fact that at that time the shelves of bookstores were dominated by Russian or translated books, and there was a lack of modern Ukrainian adventure and educational literature for children.

In 2015 and 2022, Andriy Bachynskyy's books won the BBC Children's Book of the Year award. The book "140 Decibels of silence", which won a prize in 2015, was translated and published in China, South Korea, and Slovenia.

A. Bachynskyy writes in a light adventure genre, but each story is dedicated to social problems, as well as the popularization of exact sciences, the history of Ukraine, and the development of handicrafts.
