Poet, translator, literary critic

Poet, translator, literary critic. He was born in 1944 in Kattakurgan, Uzbekistan. On 23 October 2024, he died at the age of 80 in Odesa.

As a baby moved to Dnipro (former known as Dnipropetrovsk), where the family returned after evacuation. He studied at the Department of Physics at the Dnipropetrovsk University and published poems in Russian and Ukrainian languages in the local youth newspaper.

He was expelled at the fifth year for an attempt to create a manuscript journal and accused of denigration of the Soviet reality, Zionism and Ukrainian nationalism. After the military service he settled in Moscow and graduated from the university in absentia. He worked as an acoustic engineer, radiologic engineer, school math teacher, installer-repairer, photographer, guard, and forwarder.

Permanent participant of the Kyiv Laurels Festival, Lviv Publishers’ Forum, Kyiv Book Arsenal. Took part in the first book festival in Dnipro.

Since the late 2013 he has taken part in campaigns and signed letters in support of Ukraine.
