The 2019/2020 PEN Ukraine focus theme: What shall give us power

Every September PEN Ukraine announced a focus theme within the frameworks of which leading intellectuals in their essays reflect on topics and issues important for the cultural environment and Ukrainian society. In 2019–2020 writers, philosophers, journalists, opinion leaders and academics pondered what the power of Ukrainians is and where to find it in moments of helplessness; power of the weak and weakness of the powerful; and how power differs from violence.
