Herasymiuk Olha

Journalist, author and producer of TV and radio projects, TV presenter. Olha was born in Pyriatyn, Poltava region, on 21 October 1958.

One of the creators of the new television of the independent Ukraine; the first woman to be Director General of the national TV channel; now she is the Head of Ukraine’s national regulator in the sphere of television and radio broadcasting.

TV presenter of the cult program “No Taboo,” author of numerous documentary films.

The distinguished journalist of Ukraine; member of the Ukrainian parliament of the fifth and sixth convocations; worked in PACE; Master of Foreign Affairs – now representing Ukraine in the Permanent Committee for Information Society in the Council of Europe; represents interests of UA: PBC at the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities and Media Regulators Forum of Countries of the Black Sea region.

Olha has been awarded Georgia’s Order of Honor; laureate of various international professional awards.

She is a public activist in the sphere of human rights and curator of the project aimed at protection of cultural heritage.

Her works have been published in the national press and collections of novellas; she is a columnist collaborating with several editions. She advocates for elimination of gender stereotypes, sexism, and woks for the establishment of speech ethics in the media. Since 2015 she is a member of the jury for a literary award, BBC Book of the Year.
